Space Patrol Orion

"What sounds like a fairy tale today could be reality tomorrow. Here is a fairy tale of the day after tomorrow: there are no more nation states. There is only humanity and its colonies in space. People settle on distant stars. The ocean floor is developed as living space. Spaceships are speeding through our Milky Way system at speeds still unimaginable today. One of these spaceships is the Orion, a tiny part of a gigantic security system that protects the Earth from threats from space. Let's accompany the Orion and its crew as they patrol the edge of infinity."

So much for the famous text from the opening credits, which are introduced at the beginning of each episode.

Orion first appeared on German TV in 1966 and is probably the best-known German science fiction TV series. The black-and-white series has had cult status for decades.

2008 Space Patrol ORION ...is back -

At least part of the crew of the fast space cruiser Orion from the cult TV series of the same name, which was first broadcast in September 1966, is ready for new adventures on the "edge of infinity".
